
Women's Basketball Hosts N.C. A&T for 50th Anniversary Game

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team returns to TD Arena for a matchup against North Carolina A&T Sunday afternoon.

OPENING TIP — CofC, the preseason Coastal Athletic Association favorites, is 7-0 in CAA play and off to the best start in conference play in program history. The team is 15-3 overall and finished non-conference play 8-3 with quality wins at Quinnipiac (a top-30 mid-major program) and at Florida State.
The Cougars' win over the Seminoles gave them a win over a Power 4 school for the second consecutive year. It was also Charleston's first victory over an ACC school since CofC defeated Clemson in 2009.
The Cougars are currently ranked 11th in the most recent College Insider Mid-Major top-25 rankings.
CofC returns two starters from last years WNIT Super 16 squad, including the reigning CAA Player of the Year in Taryn Barbot.
Charleston returns six key contributors from last year's team, while adding seven newcomers, including two starting transfers in Tyja Beans (Western Carolina), Grace Ezebilo (Tyler Junior College).
The 2024-25 Charleston women's basketball team set a record for the most wins in the program's Division I era with 25. Charleston also earned its first Power 4 win since 2009 with a 68-62 victory over Northwestern at the Hawk Classic on December 20, 2024.
BREANNA BOLDEN JERSEY CELEBRATION — Prior to tip-off, Breanna Bolden will become the sixth Cougar to have her jersey raised into the rafters of TD Arena. Bolden played for Charleston from 2013-2017 and will join Scooter DeLorme Barnette, Nessie Harris, Regina Brown, Lisa Washington and Kelli Garrett as Cougars whose jerseys are in the rafters.
50TH ANNIVERSARY — During Sunday's game against N.C. A&T, the College of Charleston women's basketball team will celebrate the varsity program's 50th anniversary and Cougar alumni will be honored at the game.
Throughout the entire 2025-26 campaign, feature stories on past Cougar greats and influential players will be shared on the College of Charleston official athletics website at cofcsports.com.

AMONG THE NCAA — The Cougars currently have two players who are in the top-10 in the nation in their respective categories. Taylor Barbot is one of only 20 players in the country to record a triple-double and is also 8th in the nation in assists per game (7.0). Grace Ezebilo is 5th in the nation in rebounds per game (11.7) and is also in the top-20 in total rebounds (200), defensive boards per game (7.6) and offensive rebounds per game (4.1). Additionally, Taylor Barbot is in the top-20 in assist/turnover ratio (2.64) and total assists (119), while Taryn Barbot is in the top-20 in free throw percentage (88.9%) and points per game (19.9).
As a team, Charleston is 10th in the country in offensive rebounds per game (16.6) and in the top-20 in total rebounds per game (43.24).

LAST TIME OUT — The College of Charleston women's basketball team (15-3, 7-0) defeated UNCW (5-13, 1-6) 71-37 at Trask Coliseum Friday night.
After falling behind 13-6, the Cougars stifled the Seahawks, scoring 25-straight points over a span of more than 16 minutes to take control of the game. With the win, the Cougars improved to 7-0 in conference play for the first time ever.
- After Taryn Barbot drilled a triple on the first possession of the game, the Seahawks hit three-straight triples and made their first five shots to take a 13-6 advantage with 6:14 left in the first period.
- Over the last six minutes of the quarter, the Cougars forced eight Seahawks turnovers and scored the last 15 points of the stanza to take a 21-13 edge in the second period.
- With Charleston's defense continuing to give UNCW trouble, the Cougars held the Seahawks scoreless for over 16 minutes, and outscored them 10-2 in the second quarter as they took a 31-15 lead into the break.
- Triples from Sophia Tougas and Taryn Barbot helped extend Charleston's lead to 21 points (41-20) by the third quarter media timeout.
- Coming off the bench, Jami Hill drilled three triples to close out the third quarter as CofC took a 55-24 lead into the final 10 minutes.
- Two more Jami Hill triples extended the Cougars' advantage to 37 (61-24) and forced a Seahawks timeout with 7:40 left in the game.
- Taylor Barbot, Leah Philpotts and Jami Hill all scored for the Cougars over the last seven minutes as CofC went on to win the contest 71-37.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES — North Carolina A&T is coming of a 60-67 loss at Elon Friday night. The Aggies are 2-4 in CAA play and have picked up wins over Northeastern and Hampton. The Aggies are 7-10 overall and 2-6 on the road this year.
The Aggies are led by redshirt senior center Chaniya Clark. Clark made the All-CAA Preseason First Team and is averaging 12.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Junior forward Paris Locke - who made the All-CAA Preseason Second Team - is averaging 10.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest. The third double digit scorer for the Aggies with and average of 11.2 points per game is graduate guard D'Mya Tucker.
N.C. A&T was picked 3rd in the CAA Preseason Poll.
MATCHUP HISTORY VS. N.C. A&T — Charleston is 2-3 all-time against N.C. A&T. At home, CofC holds a 1-1 record against the Aggies.
PRESEASON FAVS — Charleston was picked as the preseason Coastal Athletic Association favorites, receiving eight of the 13 first place votes.
IN THE POLLS — The Cougars are ranked 11th in the most recent College Insider Mid-Major top 25 rankings.
AWARDS — Taryn Barbot has earned three CAA Player of the Week awards this season. Most recently, she won the award on January 5th after averaging 26.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game in the opening weekend of conference play. She was also named the CAA Player of the Week on December 1st after a strong week at the Big Easy Classic in New Orleans, and once more on November 17th after posting her eighth career 30-point game in the 75-44 win over Iona.
Taylor Barbot garnered Coastal Athletic Association Player of the Week honors December 15th after leading all players in points (20) and assists (8) in the Cougars 75-70 win at Florida State.
Additionally, Taryn Barbot was picked as the CAA Preseason Player of Year and was named to the Preseason All-CAA First Team. She was also one of just 25 athletes named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year watch list. Taylor Barbot earned a Preseason All-CAA Second Team nod.
THE HARMONY FILE — The 2025-26 campaign is Robin Harmony's seventh as the head coach at College of Charleston. Harmony was named the program's eighth head coach on April 19, 2019 and has earned 110 wins at CofC, including back-to-back 20 win seasons at the helm.
In her most recent season, Harmony led the Cougars to their winningest season in D1 program history with 25 wins. The Cougars advanced to the semifinals of the CAA conference tournament and the Super 16 in the WNIT after earning their first postseason victory ever on their home court.
In her 18+ years as a head coach, Harmony has:
- 10 20-win seasons
- Led Charleston to back-to-back WNIT appearances
- Three Southland Conference regular season titles (Lamar)
- Led Lamar to three WNIT appearances
- Member of University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame
- Named an ACC Women's Basketball Legend in 2013
BARBOT'S WORLD — Taryn Barbot, the 2025-26 CAA Preseason Player of the Year is averaging 19.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.1 steals per contest this season.
Barbot was just one of 25 athletes named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Watch List, which recognizes the best mid-major player in the country. Additionally, she's earned three CAA Player of the Week awards this season.
After earning the program's first CAA Rookie of the Year in 2023-24, Barbot came back and won the program's first CAA Player of the Year after the 2024-25 season. The Floral Park, N.Y. native amassed the 1,000 point mark on March 24, 2025 and became the first sophomore in program history and the fastest Charleston basketball player to do so (64 games). She's now scored 1,401 points as a Cougar and is 12th on the Charleston's all-time scoring list. She's also just the seventh Cougar in program history to score over 1,000 points and grab over 500 rebounds.

ALCOHOL BEVERAGE RETAIL SALES AND SERVICE REGUALTIONS — In order to sell and/or serve an alcoholic beverage in TD Arena, the following requirements apply:
- Moving forward, a valid ID is required to be scanned/swiped for each transaction.
- Vertical IDs will not be accepted at sales locations regardless of the individual's age.
- All ID checks will be handled directly by our Aramark concession partners at each stand. EPI staff will no longer check ID's or provide wristbands.
- No more than two (2) alcoholic beverages may be sold or served per transaction.
MAGNOTOMETER SECURITY FEATURE — As fans enter the main entrance of TD Arena, they will see new walk-through magnetometers, or metal detectors. In addition to the existing Clear Bag and prohibited items policy at TD Arena, the magnetometers are a new added security feature to enhance the safety of our fans.
WHAT TO EXPECT — Fans will enter TD Arena at the Meeting Street entrance.
- Once inside, fans will be asked to take their belongings out of their pockets and place them in a bin. This includes phone, wallet, keys, etc.
- If you bring a bag compliant with the Clear Bag policy, your items can be placed in the bag.
- EPI security staff will provide guidance on when to walk through the magnetometer and assist in retrieving your belongings after you clear through the magnetometer.
