Weddington joined the CofC staff in August 2021 as an Academic Advisor for Student-Athlete Academic Services. Sara serves as the primary advisor for Women’s Basketball, Men's Soccer, Softball, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, and Track and Field. Sara oversees the department's Academic Mentors and Study Hall Monitors. She was selected for and attended the N4A’s Steve McDonnell Professional Development Institute in 2022.
She returns to the College after graduating with her Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and Sociology in 2015 from the College of Charleston. She earned her Master's in Student Affairs Administration from Appalachian State University in May of 2021.
In between coming back to the college and receiving her Masters, she taught High School Social Studies from 2016-2019 in the Charlotte, NC area.
While studying at Appalachian State University, she completed an internship within Appalachian’s Athletic department as an Assistant Learning Specialist working with Football, Men’s and Women’s Basketball and Olympic Sport student athletes. Additionally, she worked as a Graduate Assistant within Inclusion and Engagement leading a programming council for Cultural Awareness and Student Engagement. Sara also facilitated the Intersect Social Justice Retreat and Sustained Dialogue program.
While attending the College, she was very involved in the community. She was a member of the CofC Swimming and Diving Team from 2011-2015 and worked as a Peer Academic Coach for the Center for Student Learning..
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her partner, their dog and two cats, hiking, traveling, trying new foods and water sports. Weddington currently resides in Johns Island.
