
Second Half Surge Paces CofC Past Furman, 78-71

Andrew Goudelock (Lilburn, Ga.) and Tony White, Jr. (Knoxville, Tenn.) scored 18 points each and the College of Charleston used a 23-7 second half run that erased a six point deficit en route to a 78-71 Southern Conference win over Furman before 1,843 at Timmons Arena on Saturday.
With the win, the Cougars improved to 14-3 overall and 6-1 in SoCon play. Furman fell to 2-13 and 0-6. The Cougars play host to Appalachian State in a 7 p.m. tipoff on Wednesday. Goudelock's 3-pointer with two seconds left in the opening half gave Charleston a 35-34 lead at intermission. The Cougars improved to 11-0 on the season when leading at half. Furman opened the second half with a 25-18 run to grab a 59-53 lead with 10:43 remaining, but the College of Charleston went on a 23-7 run for a 76-66 lead with 27 seconds left. Jermaine Johnson's (Los Angeles, Calif.) jumper and free throw gave Charleston the lead for good at 62-60 with 6:29 remaining. The Cougars were 14-of-24 from the field (58.3 percent) in the second half and were 7 of 15 from the 3-point line (46.7 percent) for the game. Johnson finished with seven points and five rebounds, while Antwaine Wiggins (Greeneville, Tenn.) added nine points and five boards. Neil Duval led Furman with 14 points. Jordan Miller scored 13 points, Noah States had 12 and Brandon Sebirumbi added 11 points for the Paladins.
