
Cougars Set to Hit the Road to Conway

The College of Charleston women's basketball team travels to Conway, S.C., Dec. 2nd to take on the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. Game time is set for 7 p.m. and will be held at Kimbel Arena.
Charleston is 4-2 after falling to 24th-ranked Iowa State, 68-50, in its last meeting. The Cougars were led by Jade Hughes (Spartanburg, S.C.) with 13 points. Deidra Jones (Irmo, S.C.) followed with 12 on the night. It was the last game for the Cougars at the Doubletree White Invitational held in Evanston, Ill., and came just a day after they upset host Northwestern with a 54-50 win. Hughes led the effort in that game as well with 15 points to help her earn All-Tournament team honors.
Coastal Carolina is 4-2 with wins over Southern Virginia, Campbell, Western Carolina and Coker. The Chanticleers are led by Sydnei Moss with 13.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Amanda Stull follows with 12.2.
The Cougars are led by Hughes with 13.8 points per game this season and is followed closely by Tonia Gerty (Port Orange, Fla.) with 13.7. Hughes is currently fourth in the league in scoring, with Gerty fifth. Jones paces the team in rebounds with 8.8 a game and is third in the Southern Conference.
The College of Charleston returns home after the contest with Coastal Carolina for two back-to-back Southern Conference games to open league play. The first is Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. against UNC Greensboro, while the second is Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. against Elon.
