
Cougars Fall at Appalachian State

BOONE, N.C. - Junior Megan Fischer led the College of Charleston women's basketball team with 14 points, but the Cougars fell to the Appalachian State Mountaineers 71-52 Monday at the Holmes Convocation Center. Sophomore Deidre Ramer added a career-high 13 points for the Cougars.
The Mountaineers (8-1, 3-0) started the game on a 9-0 run and held the Cougars (2-7, 1-3) scoreless until the 15:59 mark when freshman Mikaela Hopkins grabbed an offensive rebound and got the basket and was fouled.
Hopkins recorded four points, seven rebounds and two blocks in the half, but Appalachian State shot over 40 percent from the field and took a 39-19 lead into halftime.
Ramer scored 10 of her 13 points in the second half but the Cougars could not cut into the deficit as the Mountaineers utilized constant pressure and held CofC to 30.9 percent shooting for the game.
