CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team reloaded for the future this week, securing the services of four incoming freshmen for the 2017-18 season.
Ericka Broughton - F/C - 6'2
Goose Creek, S.C. – Goose Creek HS

A local product from the Lowcountry, Broughton plays her high school hoops at Goose Creek High, where she's helped lead the Gators to an impressive 68-13 record in three years played. The youngest of six brothers and sisters, this post-player has garnered three All-Region and two All-State nods while averaging 7.6 points, 5.2 boards, 1.9 steals and 2.0 blocks per contest on 50% shooting from the field under the tutelage of head coach Tim Baldwin. A multi-sport athlete who also contributed as a volleyball player, she was also recruited by North Florida, Appalachian State, UNC Asheville and CAA-rival Elon.
"Ericka is a versatile post player who can play with her back to the basket or face-up," head coach Candice M. Jackson said. "She has an excellent outside shot as well. We're going to see a great level of physicality from her, whether it's setting screens or fighting for rebounds. Really, she's one of those players who will fill in the gaps and play wherever you need her to play. She has a great family, a great personality, and we're looking forward to having her with us, especially with her being so close to home."
Bryanna Goodson – G – 5'9"
Florence, S.C. – Wilson HS

Another Palmetto State standout, Goodson is a do-it-all guard who plays for Wilson HS in nearby Florence, S.C. In her time playing for the Lady Tigers, the 5'9" guard has earned three All Area selections and a pair of All-Conference honors thanks to a sterling 15-6-4 career average, while adding an additional three steals per game. Last season, she helped lead her squad to a 22-5 record and a Lower State postseason appearance. Her year was highlighted by a 28-point outing against Darlington last December, and before all is said and done, she's projected to crack the 2000-point threshold at Wilson. She comes to the Lowcountry after also being recruited by Clemson, Coastal Carolina, UNC Asheville and Furman.
"Bryanna is a flat-out shooter," Jackson said. "She caught our eye early on back in the summer of 2014, and from then on we knew she was somebody we needed to keep an eye on. Her speed and agility have improved since then, but her shot has stayed consistent. We're really looking forward to having another outside presence, and she'll bring another added dimension to our offense."
Lexi Maddox – G/F – 6'1"
Winder, Ga. – Winder Barrow HS

A native of northern Georgia, Maddox plays her high school ball for the Winder Barrow Lady Doggs. Under head coach Brandon Thomas, she helped lead the team to a 26-7 clip, breaking the 23-year-old WBHS school record from 1993 for most wins in a season. During that year, the Lady Doggs were 5A State Runners-Up. A highly sought-after prospect, Maddox was also recruited by Georgia, Georgia State, Western Kentucky, Southern Illinois, Stetson, Austin Peay State, Mercer, Appalachian State and Sam Houston State.
"Lexi's versatility is going to be a real boon for us, particularly in our offensive scheme," Jackson said. "I see her as a stretch four in our offense. She can handle a role on the outside, but is athletic and can also get it done on the boards. For somebody her size, she's also a good passer, and she's somebody that takes pride in her diverse skillset. On defense, she's somebody that'll help us in both man and zone coverages, and she's going to cause matchup problems on the other end."
Destiny Marshall – G – 5'10"
Augusta, Ga. – Grovetown HS

Another native of the Peach State, Destiny Marshall will come to the College from Grovetown High School. A slashing combo-guard, Marshall helped lead the Warriors to three straight regional championships, helping her squad to a 28-2 record in her junior year. A 1000-point scorer, she is also a multi-sport athlete who competes in track & field. In addition, her family has a pedigree for success in athletics, as she is the younger sister of Brandon Marshall, a Pro Bowl wide receiver for the New York Jets.
"Destiny is going to play the 2 or the 3 for us, and the one thing we're sure to get from her is intensity," Jackson said. "She's a competitor to the core on either end of the floor, and she does not waste a second of her time on the court taking a break. She's extremely athletic, and she's a lefty, which I think makes her really hard to guard. She's the kind of player that can will her team to win, and that's what we love about her."
