CHARLESTON, S.C. – For the first time since 2012, the College of Charleston women's soccer team (5-3) will take on the Jacksonville Dolphins (2-5) on enemy terrain when they had to the Sunshine State looking to push their win-streak to six.
The Cougars have not only won their last five in a row, they've done so completely via shutouts, outscoring opponents 12-0 over that span. Senior keeper Lauren Killian is in the midst of the third-longest shutout streak in CofC history, which currently sits at over 454 minutes. Anchoring the defense in front of her, sophomore defender Meredith Tunney has played 690 of a possible 720 minutes on the season, and has been a huge factor in keeping Killian's workload manageable.
The College has squared off with the Dolphins seven times in their all-time series, and the Cougars hold the narrow 4-3 edge. In their last meeting, the Dolphins escaped with the 2-1 victory. Rio Speller-Drews got a point on the board in that game, feeding the assist to Sarah Cardamone for the team's only goal of the affair.
The Dolphins have dropped two straight shutout losses to South Florida and Coastal Carolina, the latter of whom the Cougars vanquished 3-0 in Conway a week and a half ago. Junior forward Joelle D'Entremont has started all seven games for JU and leads the team with 8 points (3G, 2A) on 25 shots. In frame, junior keeper Sara Wicks has gotten the majority of work, making 37 saves on the year but allowing 14 goals as well for a .725 save percentage.
