CHARLESTON, S.C. – Conference play resumes at home this weekend for the College of Charleston women's soccer team (7-3-1) this weekend, where they will host the Hofstra Pride (6-4-1) on Friday at 7 p.m., and the Northeastern Huskies (6-5-1) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The College has strung together an eight-game unbeaten streak, which was put to the test last Sunday against UNCW. The Seahawks narrowly outshot the College 16-12, but thanks to a strong eight save shutout day from Lauren Killian, the Cougars managed to hang on for the scoreless tie. This season on the whole, the Cougars have done an excellent job in the possession battle, outshooting opponents 199-118 in 11 games of play.
The Cougars will be looking for their first win against Hofstra in school history on Friday. The Pride had a strong non-conference showing and went 6-2-1. However, the beginning of conference play was unkind to Hofstra, who went 0-2 against Drexel and Delaware. As a result, they currently sit in last place in the conference and will look to get back on track. They are led by Jill Mulholland on offense, who leads the conference in goals (8) and points (21). In frame, the Pride rely on the tandem of Ashley Wilson and Friederike Mehring, who've combined for 59 saves on the year.
Northeastern meanwhile comes into Sunday's action having split a pair of overtime games against Delaware and Drexel last weekend after going 5-4-1 in non-conference action. The Huskies turn to Hannah Rosenblatt (4g, 3a) and Kayla Cappuzzo (3g, 4a) on the offensive end, and Nathalie Nidetch (68 saves, 4 shutouts) in net.
A free live video feed will be available for Friday's game. For those wishing to attend either match this weekend, tickets are available by calling (843) 953-COFC or by visiting CofCSports.com/Tickets
