
Cougars To Tangle With Phoenix, Tribe This Weekend

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston volleyball team heads back out on the road to take on Elon (13-8, 2-4 CAA) and William and Mary (3-17, 0-6 CAA) in Colonial Athletic Association play this weekend, as the Cougars look to close the gap on first-place Northeastern. Friday's match with Elon is set for 7:00 pm, with first serve at William and Mary on Sunday slated for 1:00 pm.

Top Marks For Mummey: Senior Krissy Mummey delivered a near-perfect performance at the net last weekend in the Cougars' back-to-back sweeps of Towson and Delaware. The 6-foot-3 middle blocker totaled 22 kills and no errors on 37 swings for an other-worldly .595 hitting percentage to pick up her second CAA Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
Climbing the Ladder: Junior setter Allison Beckman continues to make her way toward the top of the Cougars' record books with another fine season. With 30 assists in the Cougars' sweep of Appalachian State on September 15, the 5-foot-10 setter moved into seventh in program history, and currently sits at 2,965 assists for her career.
Digging Out Honors: Junior libero McKala Rhodes dug her way to her first CAA Defensive Player of the Week honors of the season two weeks ago with an average of 6.00 digs per set. The 5-foot-10 Charleston native posted 27 digs in each of the Cougars' two wins over UNCW and James Madison to eclipse the 1,200-dig mark for her career.
Scouting Elon: Elon enters Friday's matchup with a 13-8 overall record, and a 2-4 mark in league play after falling to Hofstra and Northeastern last weekend. Sydney Busa leads the Phoenix and the CAA with an average of 4.37 kills per set; freshman Kodi Garcia ranks third in the conference in assists per set (10.46).
Scouting William & Mary: The Tribe come into the weekend with a 3-17 overall record and a 0-6 mark in league play following setbacks to Northeastern and Hofstra. Sydney Biniak paces the Tribe, and ranks third in the CAA in kills per set (3.88). Sara Zumbach leads the defense with an average of 3.21 digs per set.
