
Balanced Attack Lifts Cougars Over William & Mary, 3-1

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. --- Krissy Mummey (Hudson, Ohio) totaled 14 kills and four blocks, and Jane Feddersen (Leesburg, Va.) added 11 kills and six stuffs to lead the College of Charleston volleyball team to a four-set win at William & Mary on Sunday afternoon in Colonial Athletic Association play.
College of Charleston (18-4, 7-1 CAA) won the match by scores of 25-21, 25-10, 22-25, and 25-15 to remain in second place in the CAA standings two games ahead of James Madison, Towson, and Hofstra in a three-way tie for third. The Cougars totaled 61 kills, 47 digs, and 13 blocks while attacking at the .291 clip. William & Mary (4-18, 1-7 CAA) finished with 44 kills, 55 digs, 11 blocks, and a .174 hitting percentage.
Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) paced the Cougars with 16 kills, two service aces, two blocks, and five digs. Mummey added 14 kills, four blocks, and a blistering .550 hitting percentage, as Feddersen finished with 11 kills on 21 swings (.524) to go along with six blocks. Meghan Murphy (Orange, Calif.) chipped in career-highs of nine kills and four blocks, while Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) turned in six kills and a match-high seven blocks. Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) nearly recorded a double-double with 51 assists and eight digs as McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) tallied a match-high 18 digs.
Sydney Biniak led the way for William & Mary with 12 kills, as Heather Pippus and Kate Dedrick added 10 and nine smashes, respectively. Julia Brown chipped in eight kills to go along with seven blocks. Katie Kemp recorded a double-double with 24 assists and 10 digs, while Sara Zumback tallied 15 digs and two aces.
The Cougars return to the court on Friday when they host Hofstra (13-9, 5-3 CAA) at 7:00 pm in TD Arena.
