Balanced Attack Pushes Cougars' Win Streak To 10 With Sweep Of UNCW

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- Jane Feddersen (Leesburg, Va.) paced a balanced Cougar attack with eight kills and three blocks, as the College of Charleston volleyball team ran its win streak to 10 matches with a straight-set sweep of UNC Wilmington in Colonial Athletic Association play on Saturday evening in TD Arena.
College of Charleston (22-4, 11-1 CAA) won the match by scores of 25-16, 25-13, and 25-21 to extend its lead atop the CAA standings to one and one-half matches over second-place Northeastern (16-8, 9-2 CAA). The Cougars totaled 40 kills, 54 digs, six blocks, and six service aces to go along with a .252 hitting percentage. UNC Wilmington (8-16, 2-10 CAA) finished the night with 30 kills, 43 digs, six blocks, and a .069 attacking clip.
Feddersen and Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) each posted eight kills, as Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) tallied seven smashes, and Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) and Krissy Mummey (Hudson, Ohio) both added six kills. Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) recorded a double-double with 27 assists and 10 digs in addition to three kills and three blocks. With the effort, the junior setter moved into sixth on the program's all-time assists list, and currently sits on a career total of 3,208. McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) paced the defense with a match-high 17 digs, while Freed added 10 to go along with a contest-best three service aces.
Madison Peters led the way for UNCW with a match-high nine kills, while Sydney Brock tacked on six kills and three blocks. Brynn Montgomery and Katie McCullough posted 25 assists and 15 digs, respectively, as Jaime Thomas tallied a match-high four blocks.
The Cougars return to the court on Friday, November 3 when they travel to Towson, Md. to take on Towson in CAA play. First serve is slated for 7 pm.
