Cougars Return Home To Face Towson, Delaware

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston volleyball team returns home to the welcoming atmosphere of TD Arena for two critical matches in Colonial Athletic Association play against Towson (16-2, 2-2 CAA) on Friday, and Delaware (3-11, 1-3 CAA) on Sunday. First serve on Friday is set for 7:00 pm on the Charleston Sports Network; Sunday's match is slated for a 1:00 pm start.

Thinning The Ranks: The Cougars survived for a gritty five-set win over James Madison this past Sunday to knock the Dukes from the unbeaten ranks, as CofC pulled into a three-way tie for second in the CAA alongside JMU and Hofstra. Lauren Freed paced four players in double figures with 16 kills, as Allison Beckman accounted for 53 assists, eight digs, and three kills on four attempts.
Climbing the Ladder: Junior setter Allison Beckman continues to make her way toward the top of the Cougars' record books with another fine season. With 30 assists in the Cougars' sweep of Appalachian State on September 15, the 5-foot-10 setter moved into seventh in program history, and currently sits at 2,903 assists for her career.
Digging Out Honors: Junior libero McKala Rhodes dug her way to her first CAA Defensive Player of the Week honors of the season this past week with an average of 6.00 digs per set. The 5-foot-10 Charleston native posted 27 digs in each of the Cougars' two wins over UNCW and James Madison to eclipse the 1,200-dig mark for her career.
Scouting Towson: Towson enters the weekend with a 16-2 overall record, and a 2-2 mark in CAA play after starting the season 16-0. The Tigers led the conference in kills (14.59), assists (13.80), and digs (18.08) per set, with Silvia Grassini entering the weekend ranked third in hitting percentage (.360). Jocelyn Kuilan and Carola Biver are tied for the team-lead in kills per set (3.19).
Scouting Delaware: The Blue Hens come into the weekend with a 3-11 overall record, and a 1-3 mark in conference action. Maria Bellinger ranks record in the CAA with an average of 4.17 kills per set, while Maddie Judge paces the Delaware defense at 3.68 digs per frame.
