Top-Seeded Cougars To Face Pride In CAA Semifinals

HARRISONBURG, Va. --- The No. 21 (VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Poll) and top-seeded College of Charleston volleyball team (26-4) will meet fifth-seeded Hofstra (18-13) in the semifinal round of the Colonial Athletic Association Championship on Friday evening at 7:05 pm, after the Pride rallied from two sets down to squeak past Northeastern in the quarterfinals on Thursday evening.

Hauling In The Hardware: The Cougars amassed an envious collection of hardware on Wednesday with the announcement of the CAA Postseason Awards, as Krissy Mummey took home Player of the Year honors, Allison Beckman was named the Setter of the Year, and Jason Kepner was recognized as the Coach of the Year. Mummey and Beckman each earned All-CAA First Team honors, with Kennedy Madison and Devon Rachel being named to the Second and Third Teams, respectively.
In The Hunt: CofC continues to flirt with the top-50 in the NCAA RPI Rankings, and enter the CAA Tournament ranked 52nd. The Cougars have been as high as 47th (last week), and figure to be in the mix for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament on Selection Sunday.
Ranked Among The Best: The Cougars enter the CAA Tournament as the No. 21 team in the VolleyballMag.com Mid Major Poll - up one spot from No. 22 last week. It is their highest ranking of the season.
Streaking Cougars!: Charleston has been one of the hottest teams in the nation of late, and carries a 14-match winning streak into the CAA Tournament. During that stretch, the Cougars are averaging 2.77 blocks per set and hitting .271 as a team, while holding opponents to a hitting percentage of just .127.
National Rankings: The Cougars are ranked amongst the nation's best in several statistical categories this week, including a No. 9 ranking in opponent hitting percentage (.148). CofC also ranks 14th in winning percentage (.867), 21st in kills per set (14.30), and 28th in hitting percentage (.263). Mummey currently ranks 11th amongst individual leaders in hitting percentage (.425), while Beckman is listed 22nd in assists per set (11.23).
