CofC Cruises To Sweep of Appalachian State Friday

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) dished out a match-high 30 assists on Friday evening to move into seventh on the program's career leaderboard, as Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) posted 11 kills and McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) added 20 digs to lead the College of Charleston volleyball team to a dominating sweep of Appalachian State in TD Arena.
College of Charleston (8-3) won the match by scores of 25-12, 25-9, and 25-12, as the Cougars put down 46 kills and combined for a blistering .393 hitting percentage. The Cougars held Appalachian State (4-8) to 18 kills, 30 digs, and a -.065 attacking clip.
Rachel led the way with a match-high 11 kills to go along with three digs, one block, and a .409 hitting percentage. Krissy Mummey (Hudson, Ohio) added 10 kills and an even .500 hitting percentage, as Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) chipped in eight kills and two blocks. Beckman tallied a match-high 30 assists to move into seventh on the program's all-time assists list, while Rhodes recorded a contest-best 20 digs.
Jenna Talbert and Lexi Kohut each tallied four kills for the Mountaineers, as Ashlyn Brown dished out 14 assists and added eight digs. Sydney Hinds and Olivia Loeffler posted eight and seven digs, respectively.
The Cougars return to the court on Saturday when they host Mercer at 1:00 pm, and Buffalo at 7:00 pm to conclude the Charleston Invitational, sponsored by Hampton Inn and Suites, West Ashley.
