Trio Paces Cougars To Sweep Of Bulldogs

ORANGEBURG, S.C. --- Riana Brennan (Los Gatos, Calif.) recorded a double-double, Natalie Tucker (Isle of Palms, S.C.) dished out a match-high 37 assists, and McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) hit an even .500 with eight kills and nine digs to lead the College of Charleston volleyball team to a straight set sweep of South Carolina State on Tuesday evening.
College of Charleston (11-3) won the match by scores of 25-18, 25-20, and 25-11 while hitting .257 as a team with 41 kills, 50 digs, six blocks, and four aces. The Cougars held South Carolina State (0-10) to 28 kills, 41 digs, and a .111 attacking clip.
Brennan paced the Cougars with 12 kills and 12 digs to account for her first double-double of the season. Rhodes added eight kills, nine digs, and a .500 hitting percentage, while Meghan Murphy (Orange, Calif.) posted season-highs of eight kills, five digs, and four blocks to go along with a .375 hitting percentage.
Tucker totaled 37 assists and four digs, as Logan Manusky (San Diego, Calif.) turned in a match- and season-high 13 digs. Peyton Eisnaugle (Dallas, Texas) tallied seven kills and two blocks, while Jane Feddersen (Leesburg, Va.) chipped in three kills and four stuffs.
Alexus Holt led the way for South Carolina State with 10 kills and seven digs, as Jenai King turned in a double-double with 24 assists and 12 digs. Brianna Dafney added nine kills of her own, while Erin Hundley and Marcella Chestnut chipped in eight and seven digs, respectively.
The Cougars continue their road swing this weekend when they open Colonial Athletic Association play against Hofstra in Hempstead, N.Y. on Friday at 7 pm, and Northeastern in Boston, Mass. on Sunday at 1 pm.
