
Cougars Trek North To Open CAA Slate

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston volleyball team will travel north to Hempstead, N.Y. and Boston, Mass. this weekend to take on Hofstra on Friday evening, and Northeastern on Sunday afternoon to kick off its Colonial Athletic Association schedule. The Cougars – picked first in the CAA preseason poll – will look to carry their 11-3 record during non-conference play into league action.

Climbing the Ranks: Junior setter Allison Beckman continues to make her way toward the top of the Cougars' record books with another fine season. With 30 assists in the Cougars' sweep of Appalachian State on Friday, the 5-foot-10 setter moved into seventh in program history, and currently sits at 2,707 assists for her career.
Call Me MVP: Kennedy Madison delivered a dominating performance at the Charleston Invitational this past weekend, averaging 3.20 kills and 0.80 blocks per set while attacking at a .424 clip to earn Tournament MVP honors. The 6-foot middle blocker posted a match-high 14 kills against Mercer on Saturday afternoon, before putting down 10 kills and hitting .600 in the Cougars' sweep of Buffalo that evening.
Leading the Charge: Senior Krissy Mummey continues to pace the pack in the CAA this season with a .411 hitting percentage. The 6-foot-3 middle blocker not only leads the conference by nearly 20 points, but she has accounted for more than double the kills (134) and attempts (253) as second-place M'Kaela White's (James Madison) totals of 64 kills and 120 attempts.
Scouting Hofstra: The Pride come into conference action with an 8-6 overall following a 2-1 weekend at their Hofstra/Asics Invitational. Luisa Sydlik leads the CAA in assists per set (11.63), while Laura Masciullo and Ivania Ortiz rank sixth and seventh in kills per frame with averages of 3.43 and 3.25, respectively.
Scouting Northeastern: The Huskies enter CAA play with a 7-6 overall record after defeating Boston College and UMass Lowell at the New England Challenge this past weekend. Amy Underdown leads the NU attack with an average of 3.00 kills per set, while Gabrielle Tschannen ranks fourth in the CAA in blocks (1.16). Libero Gabrielle Eyl is currently pacing the conference with 5.78 digs per set.
