Cougars Look To Snap Skid In First Foray With Wildcats

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team begins a five-game road swing in Manhattan, Kan. this weekend, and will look to snap its two-game skid in a weekend series with Big 12 foe Kansas State. First pitch for Friday's series opener is scheduled for 4:00 pm ET.

The Cougars suffered a pair of one-run setbacks to Quinnipiac on Tuesday and Wednesday despite only surrendering five earned runs and Quinnipiac committing seven errors.

In Saturday's 7-3 win, Charleston passed a significant milestone as a program with its 900th all-time victory. The Cougars currently own a 901-616-4 all-time record in 28 years as a program.
A Bat Awakens
Logan McRae's bat awoke in a big way last weekend, as the redshirt junior went 7-for-14 with three doubles, a home run, three RBIs, and a 1.182 slugging percentage. He capped the weekend with a 4-for-5 effort on Sunday, falling a triple shy of the cycle in a performance that included a two-run home run.
Surging Cougars
The Cougars surged through the NCAA RPI rankings this week, jumping 44 spots to No. 27 after sweeping CSU Bakersfield. Six of CofC's 2018 opponents rank amongst the top 100, including Northeastern (4), East Carolina (45), Coastal Carolina (46), Kansas State (51), Georgia (56), and James Madison (72).
Scouting Kansas State
Kansas State enters the week with a 10-6 record after falling to Creighton, 13-3, on Tuesday. The Wildcats are 39-of-42 in stolen base attempts thus far, and come into Friday's opener with a .304 batting average and 58 extra-base hits.
Drew Mount leads the Wildcats with seven home runs and 29 RBIs, while batting .328 and swiping 12 bags in 12 attempts. Kasey Ford sports a 3-0 record with a 4.74 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 24.2 innings.
