Cougars Set To Square Off Bucs, Paladins In Midweek Action

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team embarks on its first split midweek swing of the season this week, when the Cougars travel to Charleston Southern on Tuesday, and Furman on Wednesday before Colonial Athletic Association play begins this coming weekend. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 6:00 pm, with a 4:00 pm start slated for Wednesday.

CSU Preview
The Cougars and Bucs meet for the 65th time on Tuesday, with CofC leading the all-time series 49-15. Charleston has won the last eight against the Bucs, including both match-ups last season.

Furman Preview
The Cougars and Paladins meet for the 63rd time on Wednesday, with The College leading the all-time series, 42-19-1. Furman won the last meeting, 9-7, on March 15, 2016 in Greenville, S.C.

Last Time Out
The Cougars won their second series of the season against a Power Five program over the weekend, shutting out Kansas State by a combined score of 14-0 in the first two games of the series before falling to the Wildcats, 7-3, in Sunday's finale.

Southpaw Stud
Evan Sisk delivered a dominating performance on Friday to set the tone for the Cougars with his first collegiate complete game. The junior left-hander scattered five hits and struck out four in nine shutout innings to run his record to 4-1 for the season, and lower his ERA to 2.32. For his efforts, Sisk garnered CAA Pitcher of the Week accolades for the third time in his career.

On-Base Machine
Dupree Hart has reached base in each of the Cougars' last 37 games dating back to April of last season. He has hit safely in all but two games this season, and leads the Cougars in batting average (.346) and on-base percentage (.435).

Surging Cougars
The Cougars enter the week 43rd in the NCAA RPI rankings - up from 82nd prior to the Kansas State series. Eight of CofC's 2018 opponents rank amongst the top 100, including Northeastern (2), Georgia (22), East Carolina (27), Coastal Carolina (30), Quinnipiac (44), Kansas State (60), UNCW (76), and James Madison (86).

Scouting Charleston Southern
Charleston Southern enters the week with a 6-15 record following a weekend sweep at the hands of Campbell. The Bucs are hitting .220 this season - led by Josh Litchfield with a .288 clip.

Mike Sconzo paces the Bucs with one home run, 10 RBIs, and a .284 batting average. Tuesday's starting pitcher, Jaret Bennett is 0-2 with a 9.77 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 15 and two-thirds innings of work.

Scouting Furman
Furman comes into the week with a 13-7 record, having won four of its last five, including a 3-1 series win over Harvard this past weekend. The Paladins are batting .287 this season with 16 home runs.

Ben Anderson leads the Paladins with three home runs, 20 RBIs, and a .413 batting average, while Jason Costa is batting .309 with three long balls and 15 RBIs. Wednesday's starter, Trent Alley, enters with a 2-0 record and a 3.72 ERA in 19 and one-third innings.
