Weekend Preview
The Cougars and Tribe meet for the 18th time on Friday, with Charleston owning an 11-6 edge in the all-time series. Charleston won the last meeting with William and Mary, 7-6, in an 11-inning thriller at the CAA Tournament on May 26, 2017.
Last Time Out
Five home runs left the yard in CofC's 15-6 win at Furman on Wednesday - all off Cougar bats - led by a two-home run effort from
Danny Wondrack. Three Cougars drove in at least two runs, paced by Wondrack (5) and
Logan McRae (4).
Power Five Poachers
The Cougars won their second series of the season against a Power Five program last weekend, shutting out Kansas State by a combined score of 14-0 in the first two games of the series before falling to the Wildcats, 7-3, in Sunday's finale. CofC now owns a 5-1 record against Power Five schools this season including a sweep of Georgia.
Southpaw Stud
Evan Sisk delivered a dominating performance last Friday to set the tone for the Cougars with his first collegiate complete game. The junior left-hander scattered five hits and struck out four in nine shutout innings to run his record to 4-1 for the season, and lower his ERA to 2.32. For his efforts, Sisk garnered CAA Pitcher of the Week accolades for the third time in his career.
On-Base Machine
Dupree Hart has reached base in each of the Cougars' last 38 games dating back to April of last season. He has hit safely in all but two games this season, and leads the Cougars in on-base percentage (.433) while ranking second in batting average (.341).
Scouting William and Mary
William and Mary comes into the weekend with an 8-13 record, and a 1-6 mark on the road. The Tribe swept a three-game set from East Tennessee last weekend.
Hunter Smith leads the Tribe with three home runs and 14 RBIs, while Zach Pearson is hitting a team-best .286. Saturday starter Bodie Sheehan enters the weekend with a 1-1 record, a 1.73 ERA, and 28 strikeouts in 36 and one-third innings.
