CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team will resume its home schedule this weekend with a three-game series against Furman. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. with junior Griffin McLarty (Buckner, Ky.) taking the ball opposite Furman sophomore lefty Matt Lazzaro.

Weekend Preview
The Cougars and Paladins meet for the 63rd time on Friday, with CofC carrying a 10-6 record and Furman entering the weekend at 5-9. This weekend's three-game set is the first such series between the Cougars and Paladins since 2015.

Scouting Furman
Furman enters the weekend with a 5-9 record following a 7-4 win over USC Upstate on Wednesday. The Paladins come into the series batting .250 as a team with 13 home runs and 23 doubles.

John Michael Boswell and Logan Taplett lead the Paladins with three home runs and 10 RBI each, while Boswell paces the team with a .358 batting average. Rob Hughes will make his first start of the season on Saturday, and carries a 2-0 record with a 0.00 ERA and two saves in 15 innings out of the bullpen thus far.

The Cougars own a 42-20-1 lead in the all-time series with the Paladins dating back to 1991. CofC has won four of the last five games in the series, and seven of the last 10.

The Cougars fell to Charleston Southern on Wednesday, 9-1 - just Charleston's second loss in its last 14 meetings with the Bucs. Danny Wondrack went 3-for-4 with a double to pace the offense.
Always in the Fight
It may be only 16 games into the season, but the Cougars are already proving to be a difficult opponent to put away with six come-from-behind victories on their early season resume, including back-to-back comeback wins to take the series with No. 27 UConn on the season's second weekend.

Doubles Maestro
Senior Logan McRae added his ninth double of the season over the weekend to enter the week ranked third in the nation. The Florence, S.C. native now stands at 41 doubles for his career, which is four shy of the program's all-time top 10.

Early Season Cook-ing
Junior Steven Cook has made an instant impact in his first season as a Cougar, compiling a 3-1 record with a 3.09 ERA and 13 strikeouts over 11.2 innings. The Westminster, Md. native made his first start at CofC on March 3, allowing one unearned run and fanning four in 4.2 innings.

600 and Counting
Charleston reached a enviable program milestone in thrilling fashion on February 27, marking its 600th home victory with an 8-5 win over No. 19 Coastal Carolina. The Cougars are currently standing on 602 home wins in the program's history.
