Cougars Host Phoenix to Open CAA Play

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team will look to rebound from a pair of tough midweek losses when the Cougars host longtime rival Elon to open Colonial Athletic Association play this weekend. First pitch on Friday is set for 6:00 p.m., with junior Griffin McLarty (Buckner, Ky.) taking the ball opposite Elon junior Kyle Brnovich.
Series Preview
The Cougars and Phoenix meet for the 55th time on Friday as the long-time rivals open the CAA schedule with a three-game series at Patriots Point.
Scouting Elon
Elon enters the weekend with an 11-10 overall record following a pair of midweek setbacks to Maryland. The Phoenix have struck out 207 batters in 195 innings as a team, but have also surrendered more than five walks per nine innings thus far.
Joe Satterfield leasd the Phoenix with six doubles and a .403 batting average, while Adam Spurlin has clubbed a team-high three home runs. Ty Adcock has driven in 18 runs. Saturday starter George Kirby carries a 3-0 record with a 3.26 ERA, 41 strikeouts, and only one walk in 30.1 innings.
