CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team looks to carry its midweek momentum into a crucial three-game series with Colonial Athletic Association foe Hofstra this weekend at Patriots Point. First pitch on Friday is slated for 6:00 p.m., with junior Griffin McLarty (Buckner, Ky.) taking the ball opposite Hofstra graduate student Michael James.

Charleston hopes to build on its midweek momentum with a CAA series against Hofstra, who carries a 3-15 overall record into its first weekend of conference play.
Scouting Hofstra
Hofstra carries a 3-15 record after dropping the last four games to Army, St. John's (two), and Monmouth. The Pride ranked fourth in the nation in double plays turned per game with 23 twin-killings so far.
Rob Weissheier leads the Pride with two home runs, 12 RBI, and a .283 batting average; Vinnie Costello and Vito Friscia have each clubbed two homers. Michael James is 0-4 with a 4.12 ERA and 21 strikeouts in five starts as the Prides' Friday starter.

Return of the Bats
The Cougars' offense has awakened from a rough stretch with several solid games against Elon, The Citadel and Charleston Southern. Led by Clay Hunt and Danny Wondrack, the Cougars have pushed across 26 runs in the last three games, including an 11-run outburst against The Citadel on Tuesday.
Winning Williams
Sophomore lefty Zach Williams collected his first collegiate win on Tuesday evening against The Citadel, tossing a career-high six and two-thirds innings and not allowing a run until the seventh inning. The Marietta, Ga. native scattered four hits and fanned one while allowing only one Bulldog to cross the plate in an 11-1 Cougar victory.

Senior Chaz Davey has begun to find his stroke again over the last three games, going 4-for-9 with a double, four runs scored, and three RBI in that span. The North Augusta, S.C. native started the season on a tear, batting .368 with three home runs, 13 RBI, and a .737 slugging percentage in the first 10 games before cooling off a bit.
