Cougars Begin Three-Game Road Stint Against Kennesaw State

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston Women's Soccer is set to play its first road match of the season on Thursday night. The Cougars will face off against Kennesaw State in Kennesaw, Ga. in the first of a three-game road stint on with a scheduled kick-off time for 7 pm.
The College opened up the regular season in the Charleston Under Armour Invitational this past weekend in which they logged a 1-1 record. The Cougars defeated Stephen F. Austin by a score of 2-1 on Friday but fell to Furman on Sunday by a score of 2-1.
The Opponent
Kennesaw State is coming off a season in which it recorded a 12-6-1 overall record, its best record in over 10 seasons. Head Coach Benji Walton is in the midst of his fourth season at the helm of the program. In just his first season, the Owls posted a 10-8-1 overall record and advanced to the ASUN Conference Tournament semifinals, marking only the eighth time in program history. KSU returns all but four letterwinners and 10 of 11 starters from last season. Offensively, the Owls bring back nearly 100 percent of its goal-scoring offense, accounting for 26 of their 27 goals from 2018.
Notables
• Seniors Rachel Kim and Talia Colchico, along with freshman Grace Powell are the lone goal scorers for the Cougars, logging a goal apiece.
• Kim was named to the Preseason All-Conference Team
• The series record between CofC and KSU stands at 1-4 in favor of the Owls.
• The last meeting between the two ended with a 3-1 victory for the Cougars on Sept. 4, 2015.
