BEMLONT, N.C. – College of Charleston men's tennis looks to get back on track after losing its season opener to Miami with a road matchup against Belmont Abbey on Saturday, Feb. 1 with a start time of 1 p.m. This will be the first meeting between the two programs.
The Cougars
The Cougars opened up the spring season with a loss to Miami on the road by a score of 7-0. CofC fought hard and competed well in the season opener but couldn't overcome the slow start.
Charleston finished the 2019 campaign on with an overall record of 18-5 and a 1-2 record in CAA play. The College graduated All-CAA Singles First Team member
Benedikt Henning last season but return Henning's doubles partner, sophomore
Johnny Wang, who earned All-CAA Doubles Second Team honors in 2019.
Scouting Belmont Abbey (1 p.m. start time)
Belmont Abbey finished the 2019 campaign with an overall record of 13-14 and a 6-3 record in conference play. The Crusaders made it to the semifinals of the Conference Carolinas Championships before falling to No. 2 seed Limestone by a score of 4-3. This matchup is the season opener for the Crusaders.
