CHARLESTON, S.C. – A postseason berth could be on the line Sunday when College of Charleston concludes a two-game New York trip with a noon contest against Hofstra.
The Cougars and Pride are tied for ninth in the CAA with 2-3-2 conference records and eight points. The duo stands one point behind William & Mary and Stony Brook and two shy of UNCW in the battle for a trip to the CAA Tournament.
There are only two games remaining in the regular season, and the top eight teams after next weekend's matches will advance to the postseason which begins October 27 at the homes of the top two seeds.
The Cougars have held a statistical advantage in their last two games against Elon and Stony Brook but came out of those with only one point. In a 0-0 draw with the Seawolves on Thursday, Charleston took 19 shots, including eight on goal, but were unable to dent the scoreboard.
Katie Carrino and Savannah Barron kept it a scoreless game throughout with both goalkeepers making two saves. The clean sheet was the seventh of the season for the Cougar defense.
Hofstra has won eight of the nine meetings in the all-time series, with all but one taking place since the Cougars joined the CAA in 2013.
Following Sunday's game, Charleston returns home for its final regular season game against UNCW on October 23 at 1 p.m.
