CHARLESTON, S.C. - Jada Logan tallied a career-high 33 points and
Jazmyn Stone continued her scoring spree with 20 to lead College of Charleston to an 85-81 win over Coastal Carolina Friday night at TD Arena.
The Cougars evened their record at 3-3 but had to hold on after the Chanticleers cut a 14-point deficit down to three in the closing seconds. The Cougars' second straight win came in the opener of a three-game homestand which continues Sunday at 2 p.m. against Charleston Southern.
How it Happened
- The first half was tight the whole way and featured four ties and five lead changes.
- Field goals by Logan and Stone in the final 30 seconds gave the Cougars a 23-20 lead after 10 minutes.
- Charleston built a 35-27 lead on a bucket by Naylee Cortes before Coastal pulled within four at halftime.
- Logan had 16 points in the first half to offset 11 points and nine rebounds by Coastal's Aja Blount.
- Charleston maintained its lead throughout the third quarter, and a bucket by Logan off a Marissa Brown offensive rebound made it 64-57 heading to the fourth.
- The Cougars came out on fire in the final stanza with 3-pointers by Stone and Jaila Roberts highlighting a 10-3 run.
- Logan's final basket of the game came with 56 seconds left, making it 80-71 and allowing the Cougars to survive the last Coastal run.
- Brown was finally able to seal the game when she made the second of two free throws with 0.6 seconds left.
Statistically Speaking
- Logan's 33 points came on 13-of-32 from the field and 7-of-11 from the line, and she added five rebounds and four assists.
- Stone reached the 20-point mark for the third straight game, making 7-of-10 field goals and 3-of-4 from behind the arc.
- Stone also had six rebounds, one shy of Roberts' team-leading seven, and had three assists and three steals.
- Anika McGarity was the third Cougar in double figures with 10 points.
- The Charleston defense forced 18 turnovers and made 10 steals, with Brown leading the team with four.
- Brown also had nine points, five rebounds and three assists.
- Blount led Coastal with 24 points and 15 rebounds.

- Logan has established career highs twice this season after scoring 28 vs. Tarleton.
- The 33 points are tied for fourth most by a Cougar in the Division I era.Â
- She set a school Division I era record with 32 field goal attempts and her 13 makes are tied for second.
- Stone has scored at least 20 points in three straight games and is averaging 22.7 over that span.
- She is the first Cougar freshman since at least 2006-07 with three 20-point games.
- The game against Coastal was the first since November 2017. It was Charleston's 36th win over the Chanticleers, second only to 56 victories over Charleston Southern.
