No. 23 Cougars Return Home to Face Defending CAA Champions

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The No. 23 College of Charleston men's basketball team returns to TD Arena for their first contest as a ranked team on Saturday vs. Delaware. The defending CAA Champions travel to TD Arena for a nationally televised game on CBS Sports Network set for 5:00 p.m.

STORYLINES
  • After a 20-year absence, the College of Charleston men's basketball team is ranked in AP Top 25 men's college basketball poll coming in at No. 23. The Cougars received 116 votes after lurking the receiving votes column for most of the young season.
  • At 15-1, Charleston holds the nation's longest winning streak at 14 straight victories. Their 15 wins are also the most by any team in the country so far this season. CAA foe UNCW is right behind the Cougars with 12 straight victories.
  • Saturday's contest for Delaware will be the second straight sell-out at TD Arena with the season-opener vs. Hampton reaching capacity.
  • The Cougars run a ten-man rotation that sees nine Cougars average at least nine minutes. Seven different Cougars have led the team in scoring at least once so far this season.
  • This will be the 23rd meeting in program history for the Cougars and Blue Hens dating back to 1998. Charleston won the last battle between the programs on February 24, 2022 in Newark 99-96. Delaware went on to win the CAA Championship and advance to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament.
  • Reyne Smith led the Cougars in the last meeting with 22 points going 6-10 from behind the arc. Ben Burnham and Charles Lampten joined him in the starting lineup.
  • Dalton Bolon paced the Cougars in their win over North Carolina A&T on Wednesday night with his first double-double as a Cougar, tying a career-high 22 points with a new career-high ten rebounds. All ten Cougars in the rotation scored in the contest.
SCOUTING THE BLUE HENS
  • Delaware is 9-6 overall and 1-1 in conference play, most recently defeating Elon on New Year's Eve 57-52. Jameer Nelson Jr. led the Blues Hens with a double-double for 15 points and ten rebounds followed by Christian Ray with 14 points and six rebounds.
  • Nelson Jr. leads the Blue Hens with 19.7 points per game while Ray averages 9.7 rebounds per game.
  • Nelson Jr. and Jyare Davis were selected All-CAA Preseason First Team and Second Team, respectively.
NATIONAL STAGE
  • Saturday's home game will be the second straight contest for the No. 23 Cougars on CBS Sports Network with Dave Ryan and Terrence Oglesby on the call.

GAME DAY REMINDERS
  • Saturday's contest is officially sold out. Doors will open 1.5 hours prior to tipoff.
  • Concession stands will open when doors open, and the Cougar Spirit Shop will open one hour prior to tipoff.
  • The TD Arena Box Office is open Monday – Friday beginning at 9AM and opens 3 hours prior to tipoff for Saturday & Sunday games.
  • If you selected mobile tickets, add your tickets to your Apple Wallet or Google Pay App prior to arriving at TD Arena for the smoothest entry experience.
