
Five Cougars named to D1Baseball national position lists

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Five College of Charleston baseball student-athletes were named among the nation's best at their respective positions heading into the 2023 season – William Privette, Ty Good, Trotter Harlan, Joseph Mershon and JT Marr.
Privette, who set the CAA and Charleston record for single-season ERA last season, was named the No. 3 reliever. The junior appeared on four Preseason All-American Teams and garnered CAA Preseason Player of the Year honors. Privette also was a finalist of the NCBWA Stopper of the Year in 2022, an award given to the nation's best reliever.
Ty Good paced the Cougars with a 10-5 record last season and was named the No. 86 Starting Pitcher. Good enters his senior season 7th all-time in strikeouts per nine innings (9.89). Good also picked up All-CAA Preseason Team honors Wednesday.
JT Marr was named the No. 47 catcher in the country by D1Baseball after posting a .298 batting average with seven long balls and 42 RBI. Marr was a semifinalist for the Buster Posey Award last season given to the nation's best catcher.
Joseph Mershon earned All-CAA Honorable Mention and was named the No. 50 second baseman. The senior hit .286 last season with 10 extra base hits and stole 12 bags earning All-CAA Second Team honors.
The top returner in power numbers last season, Trotter Harlan was named the No. 110 outfielder. Harlan hit .305 with eight home runs and 46 RBI while getting on base at a .419 mark.
Charleston opens the 2023 season in one week as they host No. 14 Virginia Tech from The Ballpark at Patriots Point. First pitch is scheduled for 4p.m.
