
Blue Hens On Tap for Weekend Road Series

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston heads to Delaware for three games in CAA play seeking a fourth conference series win in as many weekends.
The Cougars fell 10-3 to Clemson their last time out falling victim to two-out hitting by the Tigers in Columbia. Delaware took down St. Joe's in their lone midweek contest by a 9-3 score in the Liberty Bell Classic.
Charleston carries a 6-game win streak over the Blue Hens into the weekend having swept the last two series played dating back to the 2019 season. The Cougars won all three meetings last season from Patriots Point and took the last three in Newark during the 2019 season. Charleston and Delaware didn't face off in 2021 and COVID canceled the spring season before CAA play began.
Delaware plays their second home conference series while Charleston plays their second on the road. The Blue Hens beat Hofstra two games to one in their CAA opener while the Cougars edged out William & Mary 2-1 as well.

- Joey Loynd (.398) leads a quartet of Blue Hens hitting at least .300 on the season with 15 doubles and 34 RBI. Loynd ranks third in the CAA in average and leads the league in both doubles and runs driven in. Bryce Greenly – who will start Game 1 of the series on the mound – is hitting .359 for the Blue Hens with 13 extra-base hits including six homers and has driven-in 19 runs.
- Delaware as a unit is hitting .289 – good for third in the CAA – but sits ninth with a 7.87 Team ERA and 10th with a .313 opponents' batting average.
- Friday afternoon's starter Bryce Greenly leads the weekend staff with a 3.18 ERA tossing 17 innings over his six starts. Nine different Blue Hens have tossed at least 10 innings in 2023 with Tyler Strechay's 26 innings leading the way.
