CHARLESTON, S.C. – With summer leagues starting across the country, College of Charleston has eight student-athletes participating in four leagues.
Cape Cod League
Ty Good (Hyannis Harbor Hawks)
Ty Good, the 2023 CAA Pitcher of the Year, got his first start of the summer for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks tossing 3.1 innings of one earned run ball striking out three in a win Sunday evening.
Cole Mathis (Cotuit Kettleers)
Cole Mathis tossed 2+ innings of relief striking out a pair in the Opening Day 8-6 win for the Cotuit Kettleers over the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox.
NECBL
Hayden Miller (Danbury Westerners)
Hayden Miller and the Danbury Westerners are off to a 2-2 start in the Western Division of the NECBL. Miller and the Westerners have wins over the Ocean State Waves by a 7-6 score as well as the Bristol Blues. Miller had a two-run, game-tying double and walk in the latest win Sunday.
Khyree Miller (Ocean State Waves)
Khyree Miller and the Ocean State Waves are 2-3 in the Coastal Division of the NECBL picking up wins over the Upper Valley Nighthawks and coming off a Sunday 3-1 win over the North Shore Navigators.
Valley Baseball League
Michael Schultz (Front Royal Cardinals)
Michael Schultz has gotten two starts for the Front Royal Cardinals tossing 12 innings and striking out seven. Schultz has a 2.25 ERA across those two starts, the best by any Cardinal with at least one start this summer.
Coastal Plain League
Alex Lyon and Andrew Duval (Lexington Blowfish)
Teammates Alex Lyon and Andrew Duval are off to a 5-3 start with the Lexington Blowfish, sitting second in the West Division of the Coastal Plain League.
Duval has gotten a pair of starts tossing 7 innings and striking out 10 with a 1.28 ERA. Duval has struck out five batters in both starts – a pair of Blowfish wins over Macon and Forest City.
Lyon has made two appearances tossing 5 innings and holding a 1-0 record. The redshirt-freshman tossed two innings in his debut June 5 for a win with both his appearances coming in Blowfish victories.
Drake Thames (Florence Flamingos)
Drake Thames and the Florence Flamingos are 4-4 in the East Division of the Coastal Plain League with Thames making two appearances so far this summer. The junior right hander struck out a pair in his debut June 5 helping Florence to a 10-4 win over Wilmington.
