CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston has approved a four-year contract extension for Cougars' women's basketball head coach
Robin Harmony through March 2028.
Now in her fifth season at the helm of the program, Harmony is rewriting the Charleston women's basketball record book. In Harmony's first season at The College in 2017-2018, she led her team to the most overall wins in a season (13) since the 2013-14 season and the most conference wins (6) since the 2016-17 season.
The climb went up from there as the Cougars won 18 games in 2021-2022, the most since the 2013-14 season. The 18 wins are the third best mark for the program in the Division I era. The Cougars matched their highest CAA regular season win total with nine conference victories and made the CAA Tournament Semifinals for just the second time. Charleston won at Drexel and at James Madison for the first time and snapped a 14-game losing streak to Elon.
"Robin has continually raised the bar for our women's basketball program," said Matt Roberts, director of athletics. "I am excited to continue to watch this program grow under her leadership. Robin is committed to the student-athlete experience, and we see a bright future ahead with a team committed to reaching to the top of the league standings."
The Cougars are currently tied for third place in the CAA standings at 8-3 and are setting the stage for their best regular season since 2014 when the Cougars were the third seed in the CAA tournament.
Coach Robin Harmony Comment on Contract Extension:
"When I came to Charleston to lead the Charleston women's basketball program Athletic Director Matt Roberts and I had a shared vision to take women's basketball from the bottom of the conference to the top of the conference.
I have been thankful since that day in Matt Robert's belief that under his direction the College of Charleston would be able to provide the resources, and that I had the experience and skills, to make that shared vision a reality.
My assistant coaches and support staff have worked tirelessly to recruit student-athletes who embrace our dreams for them, on the court and in the classroom. The key to our joint success is in shared belief and the willingness to do the work and make the necessary sacrifices to earn degrees and win championships.
Thanks to Athletic Director Matt Roberts and President Hsu, we will keep working and BELIEVING."
