Cougars Score 17 to Clinch Series Over Seawolves

Stony Brook jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning against Cougars starter Aidan Hunter. Charleston's bats answered right away in the second as Luke Wood tied the game with an RBI double. Next man up was Dylan Johnson, the Cougars catcher pulled one over the left field wall for a two-run homer to take a 3-1 lead.
Charleston added on in the third through a two-RBI single by Luke Wood, making it a 6-1 game. In the fifth, Cole Mathis connected for his second homer of the season to make it 7-1.
Stony Brook did not go down quietly, scoring three in the fifth to make it a 7-4 game. The Cougars answered right back in the sixth with a run and then five more in the seventh to go up 13-4. After the Seawolves made it a 13-8 game, Will Baumhofer capped off a three-run ninth with a two-run homer to make it 17-8. Davis Aiken pitched a quiet ninth to seal the win and clinch the series for the Cougars.
