CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston plays its second consecutive CAA road series when the Cougars visit Towson beginning Friday at 3 p.m. followed by 1 p.m. games on Saturday and Sunday.
The Cougars (31-11, 14-4 CAA) are tied for first with UNCW with Northeastern one game back. The Seahawks host Campbell while the Huskies are at NC A&T this weekend.
Charleston has won five consecutive CAA series, winning 13 of 15 in conference play during that time, and has captured 17 of its last 19 overall. The hot streak has enabled the Cougars to reach the 30-win mark for the 20th time in the past 22 full seasons.
Charleston finished April at 20 games over .500 for the first time since 2015.
During the current 19-game stretch, the Cougars have outscored their opponents 178-73, reached double figures in runs nine times and held opponents to three or fewer runs on 10 occasions.
Charleston holds a 24-5 lead against the Tigers with all but four games coming as CAA opponents beginning in 2014. The Cougars took three one-run victories at Patriots Point last year (6-5, 5-4, 3-2), and Towson won two of three in the last get together in Maryland in 2022.
The Cougars return to Patriots Point for their final four home games of the season next week beginning with a rematch against The Citadel on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Northeastern is the opponent next weekend for a critical CAA series which will include Senior Day on Sunday, May 12.
