CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston women's basketball team will host Charleston Southern at TD Arena Friday morning at 11 a.m.

OPENING TIP — CofC opened the 2025-26 campaign by setting a program record with 135 points in a 135-41 route over Covenant College at TD Arena Monday evening.
After a Super 16 WNIT appearance in the spring of 2025, the Cougars return two starters from last years squad, including the reigning CAA Player of the Year in Taryn Barbot.
The 2024-25 Charleston women's basketball team set a record for the most wins in the program's Division I era with 25. Charleston also earned its first Power 4 win since 2009 with a 68-62 victory over Northwestern at the Hawk Classic on December 20, 2024.
CofC returns six key contributors from last year's team, while adding seven newcomers, including two probable starters in transfers Tyja Beans (Western Carolina) and Chynell Mitchell (UTRGV).
LAST TIME OUT — The Cougars set a program record with 135 points in a dominant 135-41 win over Covenant College at TD Arena Monday evening.
50TH ANNIVERSARY — The College of Charleston women's basketball team will celebrate the varsity program's 50th anniversary throughout the 2025-26 season.
The January 25th home game against NC A&T will serve as the main celebratory night and commemorate the 50 years of the program's existence. The 1974-75 Charleston women's basketball team, which was the first-ever varsity squad, will be honored at the game.
All throughout the entire 2025-26 campaign, feature stories on past Cougar greats and influential players will be shared on the College of Charleston official athletics website at cofcsports.com.
SCOUTING THE BUCCANEERS — Coming off a 14-16 season, Charleston Southern dropped its opening contest 86-84 at Jacksonville Monday night. CSU is led by junior guard Tyonna Bailey who was named to the Big South Preseason All-Conference Second Team. Bailey posted 22 points, seven rebounds and two steals in the season opener. In total, the Buccaneers return seven players from the 2024-25 squad, while welcoming six newcomers including transfer Thelma Barbitch (UTEP), who tallied 11 points on Monday night.
MATCHUP HISTORY — The Cougars hold a 59-12 all-time record against the Buccaneers and have won the last nine contests between the schools. Charleston holds a 29-6 advantage at home in the series.
PRESEASON FAVS — Charleston was picked as the preseason Coastal Athletic Association favorites, receiving eight of the 13 first place votes.
IN THE POLLS — The Cougars are ranked 23rd in the College Insider Preseason Mid-Major top 25 rankings.
AWARDS — Taryn Barbot was picked as the CAA Preseason Player of Year in addition to being named to the Preseason All-CAA First Team. She was also one of just 25 athletes named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year watch list. Taylor Barbot earned a Preseason All-CAA Second Team nod.
THE HARMONY FILE — The 2025-26 campaign is Robin Harmony's seventh as the head coach at College of Charleston. Harmony was named the program's eighth head coach on April 19, 2019 and has earned 95 wins, including back-to-back 20 win seasons at the helm.
In her most recent season, Harmony led the Cougars to their winningest season in D1 program history with 25 wins. The Cougars advanced to the semifinals of the CAA conference tournament and the Super 16 in the WNIT after earning their first postseason victory ever on their home court.

The squad will then leave the United States for the first time in program history for the Puerto Rico Clasico in December. The Cougars will face off against Cleveland State and UPR Mayaguez in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

- Moving forward, a valid ID is required to be scanned/swiped for each transaction.
- Vertical IDs will not be accepted at sales locations regardless of the individual's age.
- All ID checks will be handled directly by our Aramark concession partners at each stand. EPI staff will no longer check ID's or provide wristbands.
- No more than two (2) alcoholic beverages may be sold or served per transaction.
WHAT TO EXPECT — Fans will enter TD Arena at the Meeting Street entrance.
- Once inside, fans will be asked to take their belongings out of their pockets and place them in a bin. This includes phone, wallet, keys, etc.
- If you bring a bag compliant with the Clear Bag policy, your items can be placed in the bag.
- EPI security staff will provide guidance on when to walk through the magnetometer and assist in retrieving your belongings after you clear through the magnetometer.
