
Cougs Fall to Blue Hens in Finale

MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball lost the series finale to Delaware, 11-1, in eight innings Sunday afternoon at Patriots Point.
The Cougars earned the series win on Saturday and now sit with a 21-13 overall record and 7-5 in the CAA. The Blue Hens salvaged the weekend, improving to 18-16 and 6-6 in league play.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST DELAWARE:
- Senior Tyler Sorrentino had both of Charleston's hits on the day, roping a double off the right field wall in the third before beating out an infield single in the seventh.
- Senior Ben Venables drove in the Cougars' lone run in the fifth on an RBI ground out.
- Graduate Mike Eggert, freshman Hunter Phipps and junior Derek Duval each didn't allow a run during innings in frames four through six, with Phipps striking out a pair.
- Delaware put a five-spot on CofC in the second inning and later added three in the seventh for the 10-1 advantage. An RBI double in the eighth put the run rule in place.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston is now 25-11 in the all-time series against Delaware and 18-3 at home.
- Sorrentino tallied his 46th career multi-hit contest on Sunday.
- Duval has not allowed a run over his last three outings.
