MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – Austy Miller and
Sierra Paradis slammed three-run homers an inning apart to put away Towson, 8-2, and give College of Charleston another CAA sweep at Patriots Point.
The Cougars (21-22, 12-6 CAA) picked up their third conference sweep of the season and have won eight straight CAA games at Patriots Point, accomplishing both feats for the first time since 2014.
Eleven of Charleston's 12 league victories have come at Patriots Point to set a school record for home conference wins in a season which includes the TAAC and SoCon prior to joining the CAA in 2014.Â
Game Summary
- Bricelyn Bedenbaugh and Halle Cannon walked and Miller cleared the right field fence to make it 3-1 in the bottom of the third.
- An inning later, Karly Smith singled in a run and Paradis hit a no-doubt shot to left center to bust it open at 7-1.
- The homer was Paradis' third of the season and gives her a team-leading 22 RBI.
- The Cougars added their final run in the sixth on a triple by Cannon and single by Jay Wrightsman, her second hit of the game.
- Miller went 5-for-11 with five runs scored and five RBI in the series while increasing her hitting streak to five games.
- Ryley Kutter went the distance to even her record at 5-5 while establishing a career high with seven strikeouts.
- Kutter is tied for third in the CAA with a 1.67 ERA in conference games, and the Cougars have a team ERA of 2.01 in league contests.
