Six-Run Second Lifts Cougars Past Bucs

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston used a six-run second inning to erase an early deficit, and the Cougars went on to an 8-6 victory at Charleston Southern on Tuesday.
The win improves Charleston to 22-22 to reach the .500 mark for the first time this late in the season since the end of the 2018 season. The game was the last non-conference contest of the year.

The Cougars return to CAA play this weekend at Hofstra beginning with a 5 p.m. game on Friday. Charleston is 12-6 in the conference and has a two-game lead over the Pride for fifth place.

- Leela Langston drove in three runs to cap the uprising in the second after the Bucs took a 3-0 lead in the first.
- Jay Wrightsman and Austy Miller preceded the Langston bases clearing hit with RBI singles.
- Miller had two hits to increase her hitting streak to six games with seven RBI and seven runs scored over that span.
- CSU pulled within 6-5 in the fourth, but a Miller single highlighted a two-run Cougar fifth that provided important insurance tallies.
- Lily Thorpe went the first four innings in the circle to improve to 4-0, and Kendall Thackston allowed four hits and one run in three innings for the save.
