FIRST PITCH:
- Charleston swept North Carolina A&T on the road to improve to 13-11 in the CAA and 31-19 overall.
- The Cougars beat the Aggies Friday evening 5-4 in 10 innings, 11-5 Saturday evening and 12-2 in eight innings Sunday afternoon.
- CofC enters Tuesday riding a six-game winning streak, its longest of the campaign.
- During the stretch, the Cougars are outscoring opponents 58-17 and are hitting .343 with 21 doubles, seven home runs, 27 walks, 19 stolen bases and a .959 OPS.
- On the mound, Charleston has posted a 2.77 ERA to go along with 47 strikeouts in 52.0 frames while allowing just 11 walks and holding opponents to a .218 average.
- CofC stole eight bases in Saturday's victory, the most in a game since the Cougars swiped nine bags on March 31, 2009, against Charleston Southern.
- Charleston clubbed four homers Sunday, the most in a game this season.
- Freshman Alex LaCoste launched his first two long balls of his collegiate career, becoming the first CofC true freshman with a multi-homer game since Ryan Brown on May 16, 2015, at Northeastern.
- For his efforts during the week, LaCoste was tabbed the CAA Rookie of the Week. In four games, the freshman hit .467 (7-for-15) with six runs, three doubles, two home runs and a 1.596 OPS.
SERIES HISTORY:
- The Cougars hold a 7-5 advantage in the all-time series versus USC Upstate and are 4-3 at home. CofC has scored 10-plus runs in six of the 12 ballgames.
- Charleston is set to face USC Upstate for the first time since 2022 and first home contest since a three-game set in Feb. 2021. In the last matchup, the Cougars earned an 8-7 victory on April 19, 2022, against the Spartans.
UP NEXT:
- CofC closes out the regular season with a home series against Hofstra May 15-17. First pitches are slated for 6 p.m., 4 p.m. and noon. Saturday will also serve as the team's senior day where 16 members of the program will be honored.
