HIGH POINT, N.C. – The College of Charleston women's soccer team tied High Point 1-1 on the road Sunday afternoon.
With the draw, Charleston moves to 0-1-1 on the season and 3-0-1 all-time vs. High Point.
In the first half, Charleston's offense dominated. The lone goal for the Cougars came from senior
Emma Wennar early.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Ainsley Chunn was limited to only one save in the frame, while forward
Bella Antonio had two shots with one on goal. Antonio's first shot came directly from a corner kick where High Point's goalie saved it in the upper corner. The junior's second shot came from a header which was saved by the goalie.
In the second half, Charleston had 11 shots but could not finish. Chunn had three saves and held the Panthers off for 76 minutes before the home team sank the equalizer.
The Cougars totaled 20 shots and six on goal. Wennar led Charleston with seven.
Charleston will travel to Texas for two games next weekend. The Cougars will open the road trip Thursday at Houston Christian before traveling to Austin on Sunday to take on Texas in the program's second SEC battle of the early season.
