RICHMOND, Va. – College of Charleston freshman middle blockers Caroline Noonan and Makena Parthen were named the Coastal Athletic Association Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week Monday, respectively.

Noonan played a key part in both of Charleston's wins against then-undefeated Hofstra. In Friday's five-set victory, the freshman middle blocker registered a career-high 17 kills to pair with a .389 attacking percentage and four blocks. She also slammed home the final kill of the match in Friday's win. Noonan continued her success Saturday with 16 kills, a .333 hitting percentage and a career-best nine blocks. The Charlotte, N.C., product was also crucial in the fifth set again, factoring into six points in the final frame, including three of the final five points of the match. Noonan is the only player in the CAA with 150-plus kills and 50-plus blocks.

Parthen caused havoc at the net in the two victories versus Hofstra. In Friday's victory, the Colorado Springs, Colo., native collected six blocks to go with nine kills to knock off the Pride. The freshman middle blocker followed up with seven blocks and four kills in Saturday's five-set win. Parthen was crucial to holding Hofstra to a season-low .164 hitting percentage.
This season, Noonan has 110 kills, a .350 attacking percentage and 29.0 blocks.

Noonan earned her second conference weekly honor after being named Rookie of the Week Sept. 15.

Charleston heads to Buies Creek, N.C., Oct. 3-4 to take on Campbell in conference action. The matches are scheduled for 6 p.m. and 3 p.m. with the contests airing live on FloCollege.
