
Charleston Conclude Road Swing at Georgia Southern

STATESBORO, Ga. – College of Charleston baseball finishes its eight-game road trip May 12 for a 6 p.m. ballgame against Georgia Southern.

FIRST PITCH:
- Charleston swept Elon on the road, its second weekend conference sweep of the season.
- The Cougars defeated the Phoenix Friday, 6-5, before scoring 11 runs in both Saturday and Sunday's victories.
- CofC run-ruled Elon 11-1, Saturday and won 11-3 in the finale.
- Graduate Will Tippett slugged a home run in all three games over the weekend, going 5-for-9 with seven runs scored and a 2.171 OPS to go along with 16 assists at short.
- Graduate Dylan Johnson threw out his 23rd runner of the season, giving him sole possession of second in school history.
- Redshirt senior Ethan Plyler extended his hitting streak to nine games. Plyler has seven multi-hit contests during the stretch.
- Graduate Kurt Rogers won CAA Pitcher of the Week honors following a career-best 6.0 innings in Saturday's win. Rogers retired 16 of the first 17 batters he faced and didn't have a runner reach second base until the sixth.
- CofC's pitching staff posted a 2.16 ERA and 0.92 WHIP over the weekend, holding Elon to a .209 average.
SERIES HISTORY:
- The Cougars are 41-40 against Georgia Southern and are 16-17 as the road team.
- CofC lost the first game of the home-and-home midweek series, 5-2, back on March 25.
- Charleston is victorious in six of the last eight ballgames including two wins in the 2025 home-and-home series.
UP NEXT:
- Charleston hosts William & Mary to close out the regular season May 14-16. First pitches from Patriots Point are scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday for Senior Day.
