The College of Charleston dropped a pair of games ? 7-2 in game one and 11-0 in game two ? to South Carolina in softball action on Thursday at Patriots Point Field in Mt. Pleasant,
The Gamecocks, who had seven unearned runs in the first game, improved to 10-2 overall, while the Cougars fell to 5-6.

Melissa Hendon improved to 2-1 in the circle as she gave up two hits and allowed two runs. She struck out 15.
Terri Mesko (3-2), in five innings of work, allowed seven hits and stuck out three.
Kate Pouliot, who improved to 6-0 on season, led the Gamecocks to an 11-0 five-inning win in the second game of the doubleheader. She gave up two hits, four walks and stuck out four.

Amber Shifflett was 2-for-3 at the plate for the Cougars.
