ELON, N.C. – Halle Cannon hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh for a 4-2 victory over Hofstra in the second round of the CAA Tournament Thursday, May 7.
Charleston is 28-28 overall this season and 2-0 in the postseason. Thursday's game marks the first time since 2018 the Cougars have won two games in the CAA Tournament.
Cannon hit her second straight two RBI home run of the tournament against the Pride.

- Hofstra took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second after hitting a home run and an RBI single.
- Trailing in the top of the fifth, Karlee Hughes tripled on a 2-1 count to lead off for Charleston. Julia Sitterding sent a sacrifice fly to left field and Hughes scored to put the Cougs on the board.
- In the top of the seventh, Bronwyn Conroy singled before advancing to third on a wild pitch. Leela Langston hit a sacrifice fly to level the score 2-2. Austy Miller singled up the middle and Cannon hit her second home run of the tournament for a 4-2 lead.
- With one on base in the bottom of the seventh, Hofstra grounded out for the third out to end the game.
- Charleston had nine hits and Conroy, Miller and Sierra Paradis had two.
- Kutter and Kendall Thackston held Hofstra scoreless from the fourth to the seventh inning with three strikeouts.
- Cannon is on a four-game hitting streak and tallies five home runs on the season.
- Charleston will continue in the winner's bracket Friday, May 8 playing the winner of UNCW and Campbell.
