
Cougars Return Home to Host Terriers

The College of Charleston women's basketball team puts its perfect home record to the test when the Cougars host Wofford Monday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. Charleston is a perfect 6-0 at the Carolina First Arena this season and has only dropped two games since the facility opened last season.
The Cougars own a 22-6 record over the Terriers and have won the last 12 of 14 meetings including a 75-53 decision at home last season.
Charleston is 10-5 overall and 5-2 in the league and snapped a two-game skid with a four-point win at Georgia Southern in its last game. The Cougars held the Eagles to just two baskets in the final nine minutes and rallied from a 10-point second-half deficit for the win, their fourth in a row over GSU. Tonia Gerty (Port Orange, Fla.) led the scoring with 17 points, her second-most of the season.
Wofford is 2-11 and 1-5 in the league and won its first SoCon game of the season this past Friday, defeating UNC Greensboro, 61-60, behind Mahagony Williams' third straight double-double performance with her 14 points and 12 rebounds. Williams leads the team this season with 11.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
Two Cougars are averaging in double-figures in scoring this season with Jade Hughes (Spartanburg, S.C.) leading the way at 11.5. Gerty follows with 11.3. Three other Cougars are averaging over nine with Ericka Williams (Blackville, S.C.) at 9.6, Brooke Kotcella (Anderson, S.C.) at 9.5 and Deidra Jones (Irmo, S.C.) with 9.1 a game. Jones leads the team in rebounds with 7.6 a game as well.
Five Cougars are in the top 30 in scoring in the league so far this season, the most of any school. Hughes is 12th, while Gerty is 14th. Williams is tied for 21st, while Kotcella is 23rd. Jones is 27th. Jones is also fifth in rebounding and second in offensive rebounds. Gerty leads the league in assists and assist/turnover ratio, while Hughes is third in three-point field goal percentage.
Charleston is third in scoring defense in the league and second in field goal percentage defense, as well as 3-point field goal percentage. The Cougars are also third in assists and second in assist/turnover ratio.
The Terriers are fourth in the league in rebounds with 38.8 a game and second in blocked shots at 4.1. Williams is 11th in the league in scoring and second in rebounds.
