Cougars Fall to Hofstra in Series Finale

Hempstead, N.Y. – Jordin Jones drove in three runs with a homer and single, but the rest of the College of Charleston lineup could muster only four hits in a 6-3 loss at Hofstra that completed a series sweep for the Colonial Athletic Association leaders.
Jones hit her fifth home run of the season and 21st of her career in the third to pull the Cougars within 4-2. Sara Garcia followed with the first of her two hits on the day and advanced to third on an error but was thrown out at home trying to score on the play.
A solo home run by Courtney Scarpato expanded the Hofstra (24-8, 9-0) lead to three runs, but the Cougars got that back in the fifth on Jones' single. The senior outfielder now has 106 RBI in her career to move into seventh place in school history.
Summer Jenkins relieved starter Izzy Berouty in the first and worked five strong innings, allowing four hits and two runs with two strikeouts.
Charleston returns home for four games next week, facing Georgia Southern on Wednesday at 6 and James Madison over the weekend.
