Cougars To Face Pride In CAA First Round

HARRISONBURG, Va. --- The No. 3 seed College of Charleston baseball team begins its postseason run on Wednesday afternoon, with All-Colonial Athletic Association Second Team selection Evan Sisk (Chester, S.C.) taking the ball against No. 6 Hofstra and senior left-hander Michael James in the opening round of the Colonial Athletic Association Championship. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm from Veterans Memorial Park on the campus of James Madison University.

Dupree Hart has been a veritable vacuum cleaner at second base for the Cougars this season, and his work with the leather was rewarded in a big way on Tuesday when he was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Year. The 5-foot-7 junior made only three errors in 52 games while fielding at a .988 clip.

The Cougars placed seven players on the All-CAA teams, highlighted by a pair of First Team selections in Luke Morgan and Defensive Player of the Year Dupree Hart. Danny Wondrack, Bradley Dixon, Evan Sisk, and Carter Love each earned a spot on the Second Team, while Logan McRae was selected to the Third Team.
Watch For Them
Carter Love and Evan Sisk received special distinction over the weekend after both being named to the College Baseball Foundation's National Pitcher of the Year Watch List. The Cougars joined Florida and Stetson as one of three teams with two selections, while the CAA accounted for five of the 20 players on the list.
Scouting Hofstra
The Pride enter the CAA Tournament with a 23-21 record and a 12-12 mark in league play. Hofstra ranked fourth in the CAA during the regular season with a 3.51 ERA.
Vito Friscia paces the Pride with six home runs, 30 RBIs, and a .352 batting average to earn a spot on the All-CAA First Team. CAA Pitcher of the Year John Rooney leads the team with an 8-1 record and a 1.01 ERA while allowing just 45 hits in 89 innings.
