
Multiple Milestones Highlight Cougars' 3-1 Win Over Liberty

PITTSBURGH, Pa. --- McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.), Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.), and Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) each reached significant personal milestones, and several players established new career highs as the No. 15 (VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Poll) College of Charleston volleyball team defeated Liberty in a hard-fought four-set match on Saturday afternoon.
College of Charleston (9-5) won the match by scores of 25-15, 22-25, 25-21, and 25-23 to finish the weekend with a 2-1 record. The Cougars recorded a four-set season-high with 64 kills to go along with 62 digs, seven blocks and a .262 hitting percentage. Liberty (3-10) finished with 55 kills, 54 digs, six blocks, and a .268 attacking clip.
Rachel registered a double-double with 21 kills and 13 digs, while becoming the 18th player in program history to reach the 1,000-kill mark for her career. Beckman set a four-set career-high with a match- and season-high 57 assists, while becoming the fourth player in school history to surpass the 4,000-assist plateau. Rhodes vaulted two spots into third on the program's all-time digs list with 13 digs in the match, and now stands at 1,609 for her career.
Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) and Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) put down 13 and 12 kills respectively, as Freed narrowly missed a double-double with nine digs. Peyton Eisnaugle (Dallas, Texas) contributed a career-high 11 kills while hitting .474 and adding three blocks. Logan Manusky (San Diego, Calif.) finished with 12 digs and a match-high three service aces.
Kainah Williams led the way for Liberty with 12 kills and a .391 hitting percentage, as Jenna Culhan and Anna Gragg added 10 and nine kills, respectively. Hannah Morris recorded a double-double with 34 assists and 14 digs, while Margaret Latchford chipped in 13 digs and Gragg registered a match-high six blocks.
The Cougars return to the court on Friday, September 21 when they host Elon to open Colonial Athletic Association play at 7:00 pm in TD Arena.
