CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston women's soccer team look to continue their good run of form when they travel to Rock Hill, S.C., for a Sunday matchup at Winthrop. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. with the game broadcast live on ESPN (online only).
Scouting Winthrop
The Eagles are 4-1-1 on the season with wins over South Carolina State, East Tennessee State, Jacksonville and most recently, Alabama A&M. The lone loss for Winthrop is against North Florida, who The College defeated 2-0 in this seasons home opener. Another line of form Charleston look to is the Eagles 1-1 draw with Coastal Carolina who CofC defeated on the road 1-0 back on Aug. 23.

This will be the fourth meeting in history and the second under head coach Christian Michner. The Cougars have won all three previous meetings, two at Patriots Point and one in Rock Hill.

Maddy Brill-Edwards scored another goal of the year contender, a 25-yard top corner strike, after Leah Deutsch had opened the scoring. Mackenzie Crittenberger sealed the victory 30 seconds from the end of the game with a smart finish across the goalkeeper from eight yards.

CAA Preseason Co-Player of the Year Laura Ortega continues to edge closer to program history. Ortega is five goals from tying the career record of 24 set by Kristin Rhyne (2003-05) and just three points from tying the points record (59, also set by Rhyne). Ortega is currently second in career points with 56, tied fourth in goals with 19 and is third all-time in assists with 18 (four from the career record).
