Complete 2020 Softball Schedule
Charleston, S.C. – A doubleheader against Florida State, three weekend tournaments and three CAA series including one against defending conference champion James Madison highlight a 29-game home softball schedule, College of Charleston head coach Linda Kalafatis announced on Wednesday.
The Seminoles, winners of the 2018 Women's College World Series, visit Patriots Point on March 18. FSU won its sixth-straight ACC championship last spring and is coming off a 55-win campaign in 2019 that ended in the Super Regionals.
FSU and James Madison are two of seven teams on the schedule that earned berths in last year's NCAA Tournament. Also winning conference championships were Lipscomb (ASUN), Chattanooga (SoCon) and Fordham (A-10) while Virginia Tech and South Carolina earned at-large bids.
"This sets up to be a challenging and competitive schedule for us," said Kalafatis. "From opening up at Troy to finishing at Hofstra, we will need to be at our best to have a successful season."
After opening the season with two tournaments on the road, the Cougars host the Charleston Invitational on February 21-23, the Holy City Showdown on February 28-March 1 and the Cougar Classic on March 13-15. Prior to its final tournament of the season, Charleston plays at South Carolina on March 4.
The CAA season opens on March 21-22 with a three-game series against Towson at Patriots Point. James Madison visits on April 11-12, and Drexel is in town on April 25-26. The conference tournament will take place in Harrisonburg, Va., from May 6-8.
The Cougars make another trip to Conway to face the Chanticleers on March 24. The annual two-game set against Charleston Southern takes place on April 1 at Patriots Point and April 15 at CSU, and home games against Furman (February 25) and Georgia Southern (March 11) round out non-conference play.
"With our pitching and overall depth, I feel good about our ability to take on a tough schedule," said Kalafatis. "I was pleased with our fall and the work we did with our sports performance coach Amber Manor. The kids really came together, and I'm eager to see how we build on that in the spring."
Weekend passes go on sale February 3 with single-game tickets available beginning February 5. Weekend passes are $12 for adults and $6 for youths 18 and under, while single tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for youths. A group rate is available for $2 per ticket.
