CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team will welcome crosstown foe Charleston Southern to Patriots Point on Tuesday afternoon in the first of two meetings between the long-time neighbors this season. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
Game Preview
The Cougars and Buccaneers meet for the 75th time on Tuesday afternoon in the first of two meetings this season. Coach Holbrook and the Cougars opened the season with back-to-back wins over Iona before falling to Maryland on Sunday in extra innings. Charleston Southern is still in search of its first win of the season after going 0-4 on opening weekend.
Scouting Charleston Southern
Charleston Southern was picked seventh in the Big South Preseason Poll after posting a 23-36 overall record and finishing seventh in the league last season. The Bucs fell to Maryland on Friday before dropping three to Rider on Saturday and Sunday.
Senior Ryan Stoudemire is batting .417 so far with two doubles, one home run and three RBI while Josh Asbill leads the Bucs with four runs driven in. Tuesday starter Trent Seibert surrendered three runs over four innings of work against Rider over the weekend.

Several freshmen made the most of their first opportunities at the collegiate level over the weekend including a pair of superb starts by rookie right-handers Caswell Smith and CJ Czerwinski. Smith fanned seven over four one-run innings on Saturday to earn the win while Czerwinski tossed five scoreless frames against Maryland on Sunday.
Freshman shortstop Trotter Harlan delivered four hits and several stellar plays in the hole. Ty Good struck out the side in his first career appearance on Saturday and Joseph Mershon plated two with his first collegiate hit on Saturday as well.
